From Old Soul & Rattlesnake to OSR: Growing, Learning, and Giving Back

When BarDownOSR.com first started, it was just two kids, Old Soul and Rattlesnake, making each other laugh, playing hockey, and sharing funny videos on YouTube. What began as inside jokes and creative experiments quickly turned into something bigger than we realized at the time: a space to share what we loved most, hockey, friendship, and the lessons that come with both.

Those videos are still there, and they’ll always be part of who I am. They remind me where this all began, the long practices, the road trips, the locker room laughs, and the moments that made me fall in love with the game in the first place.

But a lot has changed since then. I’ve grown up a little. I’ve learned that hockey isn’t just about the highlights or the goals, it’s about teamwork, resilience, and respect. It’s about showing up, working hard, and learning from the moments that don’t go as planned.

That’s what inspired the next chapter of this project: The OSR Series™ — Own it. Support it. Respect it.™

The first book, Every Position Counts, was written to help younger players understand what I’ve learned along the way, that every role matters, and being part of a team is about more than what shows up on the scoreboard.

This new series keeps the same heart as the original channel, creativity, humor, and a love for hockey, but adds the lessons I’ve picked up as I’ve grown. It’s about giving back to the game that’s taught us so much and helping the next generation of players see the bigger picture.

So while the old videos will always be part of BarDownOSR, this new chapter is about building something that lasts, a message that every young athlete can carry with them on the ice and beyond.
